Richard J. Olive is a former journalist (The Kansas City Star, Elmira (N.Y.) Star-Gazette, The Associated Press and United Press International) and collaborator with two other Catholic seminarians in a 1950s coming-of-age book (,,, but few are chosen A Different Path to Coming of Age, Michael Connolly, Richard Olive, John Tuohey, Vandamere Press, St. Petersburg, FL, 2018).

Olive was a friend of the Litekys from 1984 until their deaths; Judy in August, 2016, Charlie in January, 2017.

He began writing Not One Without the Other a social justice love story shortly after Charlie’s death, focusing, at first, on Charlie and his heroics, until his research made crystal clear Judy’s valiant and indispensable role in their lives, as well as her own.
